The Ecovacs T10 Plus has an interesting reputation: it punches well above its weight on carpets despite modest specs on paper, but Ecovacs’ frustrating app can drive you crazy. Released in mid-2022 at around $650, this robot has since been discontinued and replaced by the T20, T30, and X-series lineups. You can still find units floating around on eBay, Walmart Marketplace, and other secondary sellers for $250-$400, mostly refurbished or “new old stock” with questionable warranty coverage.

Should you bother hunting one down? Maybe, if you want the camera features and can stomach the app headaches. Here’s everything you need to know.

Why the Specs Don’t Tell the Whole Story

On paper, 3000Pa of suction sounds weak by 2025 standards, where 6000Pa and higher has become common. But independent testing revealed something unexpected: the T10 Plus produces “massively above average” airflow, which matters more for actual cleaning than raw suction numbers. The result? It deep-cleans carpets better than many robots boasting much higher Pa ratings.

The floating main brush (a bristle and rubber combo) works well on hard floors, and dual side brushes help gather debris effectively, though they can scatter larger items like cereal. You’ll get excellent sand and dust pickup on both hard surfaces and carpets.

The Camera System: Genuinely Useful Security Feature

AIVI 3.0 uses an RGB camera to identify 18+ object types, including shoes, cables, and socks. The robot slows down before furniture and navigates around toys reasonably well. Thin phone chargers might still get eaten, but thicker cables are generally safe.

Beyond obstacle avoidance, the camera enables live video streaming, two-way voice communication, and a “home patrol” security mode. You can check in on your house remotely, which makes this one of the few robot vacuums that doubles as a basic security camera. Privacy-minded users should know that video data uploads to Ecovacs’ cloud servers, so if that concerns you, a LiDAR-only model might be a better fit.

The robot also has a built-in voice assistant called “YIKO.” You can speak directly to it without needing a smart speaker. Say “OK Yiko, clean under the sofa” and it responds. Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa integration are also available.

Mopping: Decent but Not Modern

The T10 Plus uses a vibrating mop system (OZMO Pro 3.0) that oscillates 600 times per minute. This scrubbing action removes dried coffee and juice stains better than static drag-mops, but don’t expect miracles.

Here’s the catch: there’s no mop lifting. When the mop pad is attached, the robot avoids carpet entirely. If you have area rugs or carpet runners mixed with hard floors, you can’t vacuum and mop in one run. You have to physically remove the mop plate to clean carpets, which defeats the point of a “set and forget” robot.

The 240ml water tank is electronically controlled, and water levels are adjustable through the app. A quirky bonus: an air freshener module can replace the mopping module to scent your home while the robot vacuums.

Note: Don’t confuse the T10 Plus with the T10 Turbo. The Turbo uses spinning mops instead of a vibrating pad.

The App: The T10 Plus’s Achilles’ Heel

The Ecovacs Home app rates around 3.4/5 on iOS and 4.0 on Google Play, but those numbers hide some frustrating problems that persist through late 2025:

Map corruption is the biggest headache. The app randomly overlays new maps on top of old ones, creating unusable “ghost maps” that require factory resets. Your carefully configured zones and room names? Gone.

Connectivity drops happen regularly. Users report “Robot is offline” errors that require router reboots or complete re-pairing. And while you’re troubleshooting, the app helpfully displays pop-up ads for newer Ecovacs models.

The mapping features themselves work well when the app cooperates. Multi-floor maps, 3D furniture modeling, quick mapping without cleaning, no-go zones, and room-specific scheduling are all supported.

TrueMapping 2.0 (dToF LiDAR) provides fast, logical navigation in neat rows. The enclosed LiDAR turret keeps the profile relatively low at 103.3mm (4.1 inches), though it’s still a moving part that can fail after 3-4 years.

Battery life is generous: up to 260 minutes in Quiet mode (sweep only) or around 180 minutes when sweeping and mopping at standard settings. That translates to roughly 290 square meters (3100+ sq ft) per charge. Recharging takes about 6.5 hours, and the robot will return to charge and resume where it left off if needed.

The Auto-Empty Station

The included dock empties the robot’s 400ml dustbin into a 3.2-liter bag, rated for up to 60 days between changes. It works reliably, though the emptying cycle hits around 80 dB, loud enough to startle you if you’re not expecting it.

The station handles vacuuming only. There’s no mop washing, drying, or water tank refilling. You’ll manually wash and dry the mop pad and refill the 240ml tank yourself.

Noise Levels

The T10 Plus runs quieter than average for its airflow output:

  • Quiet Mode: ~51 dB
  • Standard Mode: ~58-66 dB
  • Max Mode: ~68-69 dB

Maintenance and Long-Term Ownership

Replacement parts are cheap and widely available. Third-party dust bags run about $15 for a six-pack, and full accessory refresh kits (brushes and filters) cost around $20.

The E11 high-efficiency filter (captures 99% of microns) is washable. The bristle brush will collect pet hair over time, requiring the included cutting tool to clear tangles. The robot’s internal ducts can clog if you’re picking up large amounts of pet hair at once.

Battery replacement is possible but requires disassembly. The hardware is generally robust, with the LiDAR turret being the component most likely to fail over several years of use.

Warranty is the standard 1-year limited coverage if you buy from an authorized seller. Ecovacs support has a reputation for scripted responses and slow resolution of software and firmware bugs.

Pet Performance

High airflow helps with pet hair pickup, though the bristle brush will tangle and need periodic cleaning. The camera attempts to identify pet waste, but success isn’t guaranteed, so don’t rely on it completely.

Known Problems

Beyond the app issues already mentioned:

  • Threshold struggles: The robot has trouble with obstacles higher than 2cm, especially with the mopping pad attached
  • Over-sensitive avoidance: Sometimes it avoids dark rugs or carpet patterns, mistaking them for cliffs or obstacles
  • Privacy concerns: Cloud-connected camera may not suit everyone

Who Should Buy This in 2025?

The T10 Plus makes sense if you find one under $300 and specifically want the camera and video patrol features. The carpet cleaning performance genuinely impresses for the price, and if you can tolerate occasional app frustrations, there’s real value here.

For pure cleaning reliability without camera features, the Roborock Q7 Max+ or Q8 Max+ offer much more stable app experiences at similar prices. If you need mop lifting for mixed flooring, look at the Dreame L10s Pro instead.
